Bewley’s Launch New Speciality Tea Range
Bewley’s, Ireland’s best known coffee & tea company, is launching a complete new range of Speciality Teas for foodservice operators, which will drive new profit opportunities with rising consumption of speciality tea.
Using only the finest natural ingredients, Bewley’s have developed a range of teas that are rich in health benefits, bursting with flavour and beautifully packaged in a colourful, visually appealing and user friendly format.
In a recent study carried out for Bewley’s by Empathy Research, 40% of participants said they drink speciality teas every day, with nearly half of these drinking it once or twice a week. Consumer motivation in choosing speciality tea is primarily driven by the associated health benefits, so this new range from Bewley’s should prove very popular, as consumers increasingly prioritise healthy eating and lifestyle choices.
“Tea has a particular cultural significance for Irish people and speciality, herbal and fruit teas are the rising stars of the Irish tea market,” comments Bewley’s marketing manager Noel-John McLoughlin.
“Retail sales of speciality tea have grown by 28% since 2006. The overall tea market is growing as more and more consumers are trialing and then routinely consuming speciality teas.”
“These same trends are now apparent in foodservice as consumers carry their preferences with them into outlets when ordering hot beverages. Reflecting this shift, we are seeing considerable growth in our sales of speciality teas in the foodservice sector.”
Bewley’s have also created visually impactful point of sale material, including a prominent merchandising unit which displays the full range to consumers.
“It’s important that consumers have the freedom to see, touch and sample the aroma of the teas they might choose,” says Noel-John McLoughlin of Bewley’s. “To maximize flexibility, our specialty tea range is packaged in slim cartons with a perforated dispenser and individual string & tag bags. Our new merchandising unit allows for immediate recognition of the offer and encourages consumers to make a purchase.”
Bewley’s Master Blender Paul O’Toole, who has 30 years of experience in the tea business, says “Teas can have the most amazing tastes and aromas and we have captured that sense of excitement for tea drinkers in our new speciality range. There is something in each variety that will delight foodservice consumers and, if they associate that with a high quality experience in the outlet where they are served, they will return for more.”
“We know that speciality teas are perfectly suited to the foodservice environment where, unlike hot beverages to go, people are seeking the opportunity to stop for a while to enjoy a high quality and refreshing tea experience,” says Paul O’Toole.
Bewley’s first imported tea to Ireland in 1835 and has a long tradition of expertise in bringing the best quality teas to these shores.
Catering for different consumer tastes, there are seven different variants available, each with its own unique characteristics including; Pure Peppermint & Spearmint, Pure Rooibos, Pure White Tea with Cranberry, Pure Camomile, Pure Sencha Green Tea, Irish Breakfast and Earl Grey.
