Coffee fuelled performances will wow visitors to Street Performance World Championship

A Mighty Coffee for a Mighty Man – GOLIATH!

Our coffee contortionists, bean jugglers and espresso magicians will add their own touch of performance art to the Street Performance World Championship in Dublin’s Merrion Square in June.

Pictured at Bewley's Grafton with GOLIATH (on left) is the Space Cowboy. The radical things that the Space Cowboy can do with his body does not bear mentioning here!

Latte artists from Ireland’s favourite fresh coffee company will bring all their coffee making skills into play at the Championship which promises a feast of family fun and laughter from 12 – 7.30 pm daily, Friday 17th – Sunday 19th June.

Marking the countdown to the Championship, the World’s Smallest Strongman GOLIATH! lifted the world’s largest coffee cup at Bewley’s Grafton Street. Armed with Ireland’s mightiest coffee and at just four feet tall, the magnificent, the majestic, the seriously colossal Goliath will thrill visitors to the Street Performance World Championship.

GOLIATH! is ably assisted here by a man known only as… The Space Cowboy, and a bunch of Wallys. The radical things that the Space Cowboy can do with his body does not bear mentioning here!! He also caused consternation in Bewley’s Grafton Street by bending cutlery with just his thumb and forefinger!

Highlight of the Championship will be an attempt by the public to break the Where’s Wally World Record as the largest gathering of Wallys ever. Hundreds of coffee fuelled Wallys are already wandering the streets in readiness for the event.

Bewley’s will froth up some twenty billion milk bubbles for the thousands of coffees it will serve throughout the festival, offering perfectly created cappuccinos, lattes, americanos, espressos, mochas, hot chocolates and teas.

Joining in the fun of the festival, we’ll have children’s drawing areas and a fun “Bewley’s Tea Party” photo station along with the Bewley’s Bambicino, a delicious frothed milk drink for children. People can also follow the fun with Bewley’s on Twitter and Facebook via www.bewleys.com.

Celebrating the Summer, we’re also offering 20% off all online coffee and tea purchases for the month of June at www.bewleys.com.

The best contortionists, magicians, breakdancers, comedians and other assorted world-class professional jesters from nine countries are descending on Ireland for the event. Performers will battle it out for the most coveted title in street performance, the Street Performance World Championship.

2011 is the festival’s sixth year. The Championship is taking place in Dublin, Cork and Portlaoise. In 2010 over 150,000 people attended what is arguably Ireland’s greatest public festival. Admission is free. See further details at www.spwc.ie
