Adjusting The Grind
If the espresso shot ‘runs’ too fast or too slow, it may be a grinding issue.
Grind adjustment should only be done using the double portafilter, with great care taken to dose & tamp correctly.
It should also only be done by a competent & trained barista, who knows exactly what they are doing.
Adjustment Tips
- Before you make any adjustment, make sure your dose & tamp is correct.
- Remove any old coffee grounds in the coffee chamber. Do not mix old and new grounds.
- Be patient. Allow the coffee that was ground at the previous setting to be used up before you see a change of flow rate.
- A little at a time. Make sure you adjust the dial a little bit at a time.
- An adjustment of only a couple of millimetres of rotation will change your extraction time a lot!
- Make several coffees with your new adjustment before deciding to make any further adjustment.
- Most important – Taste your adjusted espresso.
