Cleaning Equipment – How to Clean an Espresso Machine
Only A Clean And Well Maintained Espresso Machine Can Produce A Truly Great Espresso.
Remove
The screens up in the group head with a stubby screwdriver.
Wash
Screens in hot water & rinse well. Re-insert the screen with the screwdriver. Careful, do not over tighten!
Backflush
Using the blind basket, backflush with one quarter teaspoon of espresso cleaning powder.
Backflush each group head 5 times (leaving the detergent in the blind basket) for 10 seconds.
Rinse
Rinse away the detergent & backflush again with water, 7 times for 10 seconds.
Steam
Purge your steam wands and steam with 30mls of Franke Cleaning Solution and a jug of cold water for 15 seconds to re-steam again using fresh cold water for 15 seconds.
Wipe
Wipe away any milk build-up on the steam wands.
Brush
Brush away any old coffee grains left in dosing chamber.
Remove
Remove left-over beans from bean hopper and store in an air-tight container overnight.
Wipe
Steam and dry wipe the bean hopper to remove any oily residue.
