Tea Terms Made Easy

If you love tea half as much as we do, you’ll want to know a little bit more about what’s in those leaves. Here’s a quick guide to help you separate your whites from your greens!

tea-80bag-special-reserveBlack Tea: By far the most popular tea in Ireland, this tea is full-bodied and flavoursome, with a rich golden colour, resulting from the fermentation process. For a perfect example why not try Bewley’s Special Reserve – richly coloured and brimming with flavour, it’s a tea to be reckoned with!

green-teaGreen Tea: This is simply a tea that is processed differently to black tea. The fermentation process is much shorter.

white-teaWhite Tea: Similar to green tea but what makes white tea unique is that it is harvested when the leaf buds are still unopened and immature. White tea has a mild and sweet flavour. We’ve added some juicy cranberry to our Pure White Tea to give it just a bit more zing.

peppermint-teaHerbal Teas: Not strictly teas, but infusions made from dried flowers, leaves, seeds and roots which open up fantastic new taste experiences. There’s a herbal tea to suit every palette and mood and some have great medicinal properties too. Next time you have friends over for lunch give them a cup of Bewley’s Pure Peppermint tea.

It’s the perfect aid to digestion.
