Bewley's plant-based solution launched in Ireland

We're delighted to announce that we are partnering with plant-based and dairy-free category leader Alpro, to offer new plant-based menu solutions for our operators nationwide.

A first to market plant-based coffee concept, our Plant-Based Coffee provides a non-dairy alternative for coffee drinkers, with all traditional milk-based coffees prepared using the Alpro Barista For Professionals range including, Oat Gluten Free, Coconut, Soya and Almond options. The new coffee-solution will ensure exceptional taste and quality, designed and crafted by Bewley’s baristas nationwide.

Ireland's appetite for plant-based drinks is growing

Nearly two thirds, 62%, of coffee drinkers believe it’s important for their local coffee provider to offer more than one choice of plant-based drink, according to our annual coffee report. The report showed a substantial rise in customers opting for plant-based drinks, with nearly a third confirming they have tried plant-based alternatives. 49% of consumers would visit their coffee shop more often and would buy more if their preferred PBA was available while 55% decide where to have their coffee based on plant-based alternative availability.

The perfect blend of plant-based coffee

Plant-based milk already accounts for about 10% of the coffee channel and is continuing to grow considerably each year. Alpro has been a market leader and captain of the plant-based category for over 40 years. 71% of the population are familiar with Alpro and 41% have bought Alpro at least once before. Combining this with over 600,000 cups of coffee enjoyed across Bewley's operators nationwide each year means customers are continuing to enjoy Ireland's favourite coffee with their new plant-based alternative - the perfect partnership.

It's good for your customers and the planet

Just like us, Alpro are environmentally and sustainability driven. All the ingredients used in Alpro products are sourced ethically in a manner that protects the natural biodiversity of the regions they are grown in. Alpro are also a Certified B Corporation meaning they meet the highest standards of verified social and environmental performance, public transparency, and legal accountability to balance profit and purpose.

Ireland's first plant-based coffee dock

Ireland’s first bean-to-cup, plant-based coffee dock has been installed in the N4 service station, MACE Ballinalack, and plans are in place to roll out plant-based stations across our network of c-store operators over the next 12 months. The partnership, a collaboration between two category leaders, introduces a new innovation to the Irish coffee market. We’re excited to start working on rolling out this plant-based, bean-to- cup solution for our c-store operators across the country in the coming months.

Innovation is at the heart of Bewley's
